ChatGPT Business Pricing (2026): $20 Standard Seats, $100 Premium Seats, and the Enterprise Number OpenAI Won't Print

ChatGPT Business pricing: the short answer

As of September 2026, ChatGPT Business costs $20 per user per month billed annually, or $25 billed monthly, for a Standard seat. A Premium seat is $100 billed annually or $125 monthly, and gets 5x the usage with no 5-hour limit. The plan needs at least 2 seats, covers teams of 2 to 200, and doesn't train on your business data by default. Enterprise has no public price at all. Those numbers come from OpenAI's business pricing page, its ChatGPT Business help article, and its Codex pricing docs, all read on September 12, 2026. The sticker is simple. The useful part is which seats a real team should buy, when Plus is the same money, and what pushes you into an Enterprise contract. That's the rest of this page.

ChatGPT Business plans and prices

US prices, per user per month, as OpenAI listed them on September 12, 2026:

Both Business seat types include everything on OpenAI's list: all ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex features on desktop, web, and mobile; connectors to Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, and Microsoft 365; SAML SSO and MFA; centralized billing and administration; usage analytics and spend controls; workspace agents; and no training on your business data by default. Monthly billing costs exactly 25% more than annual on both seats.

If you still see "ChatGPT Team" on an old invoice, it's the same plan. OpenAI's help center says Team was renamed ChatGPT Business on August 29, 2025.

Standard vs Premium seats: who actually needs the $100 one

The two seats give access to the same things. The only difference is how much each person can use before hitting a limit. OpenAI's help article says Premium includes "5x more usage than Standard seats, no 5-hour usage limit, and the flexibility to mix, assign, and reassign seat types."

OpenAI's Codex pricing docs make that concrete. A Standard Business seat shares the usage estimates of ChatGPT Plus, and OpenAI's Business help article says "Premium seats have 5x the included usage of Standard seats, with the benefit of no 5-hour limit." In plain terms, a Standard seat is Plus-level usage in a company workspace. A Premium seat is five times that with no 5-hour window, at the same $100 a Pro plan costs on its own.

Most people on a team never hit a Plus-level ceiling. They write emails, clean up documents, and ask questions. The people who do are easy to spot: whoever runs Codex against a codebase all day, whoever lives in long agent tasks and deep research, and whoever keeps posting "it says I've hit my limit" in the team chat. Give those people Premium and everyone else Standard. OpenAI lets you mix seat types in one workspace and move seats between people, so this isn't a permanent decision.

What 10 seats actually cost

Here's one ten-person team priced four ways, using OpenAI's September 2026 list prices:

The mixed row is where most teams should land. Two Premium seats for your heaviest users add $1,920 a year to an all-Standard workspace. Putting everyone on Premium "to be safe" adds $9,600, and for most of those people the extra headroom goes unused. Buy the mix and check the admin usage analytics after a month.

ChatGPT Plus vs Business for a small team

This is the question behind half the searches for this page, and the answer is mostly arithmetic. ChatGPT Plus is $20 a month per person. A Business Standard seat is $20 per person per month billed annually. For a team that will use it all year, the price is the same.

What's different is who owns the account. OpenAI's own FAQ says "Go, Free, and Plus plans are designed to be used by individuals." Three employees on three personal Plus accounts means three logins you don't control, three sets of chat history that leave when those people leave, and no company-level promise about training on your data. Business puts that promise in writing ("no training on your business data by default") and adds the admin console, SSO, and spend controls.

Two exceptions. If you're a true solo operator, Business isn't available to you, because it needs at least 2 seats, so Plus is the answer. And if you won't commit for a year, Business costs $25 a seat against Plus's $20. That's still worth it the moment client or customer material goes into the chat. What the Business price doesn't include

Three things catch teams out after they buy.

• The API is separate. OpenAI's help center says a ChatGPT Business subscription "does not include API usage," which is billed separately. If a developer is building on OpenAI's models, that's a different bill on a different platform.
• Usage past the limits costs extra. Both seat types come with included usage. Beyond that, workspaces can buy credits through OpenAI's flexible pricing. The spend controls exist for a reason, so set them on day one.
• Self-serve has a ceiling. The plan is listed for teams of 2 to 200. It's also card-based. OpenAI says anyone who needs invoice billing, purchase orders, bank transfer, wire, ACH, net terms, split payments, Zero Data Retention, or BAAs has to "use a contracted offering instead of self-serve ChatGPT Business."

ChatGPT Enterprise pricing: what OpenAI publishes and what it doesn't

OpenAI's pricing page gives Enterprise two words where the price should be: "Custom pricing." It adds that credit-based and token-based pricing are available, along with invoicing and volume discounts. What you get for it is also listed:

• an expanded context window for longer inputs and larger files
• SCIM, EKM, user analytics, domain verification, and role-based access controls
• custom data retention
• data residency in ten regions
• 24/7 priority support, SLAs, and custom legal terms

Plenty of pricing guides will quote you an Enterprise per-seat estimate. OpenAI doesn't publish one, so I'm not going to pass off someone's procurement guess as a fact. Here's what's actually useful: the list of things that force the Enterprise conversation is OpenAI's own. It's the contracted-offering list above (invoices, purchase orders, net terms, Zero Data Retention, BAAs), plus SCIM, EKM, data residency, or more than 200 people. If none of those apply to you, you're a Business customer, and a sales call won't lower your price.

Anthropic went the other way this year. As of September 12, 2026, claude.com/pricing lists Claude Enterprise at a $20 seat plus usage at API rates, which I broke down on Claude Enterprise pricing. If you're comparing the two at scale, that's the only side of the comparison with a public number.

ChatGPT Business vs Claude Team vs Microsoft 365 Copilot on price

The three business assistants a small company actually shortlists landed within a dollar of each other. As of September 12, 2026, per each vendor's pricing page:

• ChatGPT Business: Standard $20 annual / $25 monthly, Premium $100 / $125, teams of 2 to 200.
• Claude Team: Standard $20 annual / $25 monthly, Premium $100 / $125, teams of 2 to 150. It's the same price structure, down to the dollar.
• Microsoft 365 Copilot Business: $21 per user per month yearly ($18 first-year promo), but only on top of a Microsoft 365 plan. The full bill is on Microsoft 365 Copilot pricing.

When the prices match, the price stops being the decision. Pick by where your team already works and which jobs matter most. A Microsoft-native office gets Copilot inside Outlook and Teams without a second vendor. A team that writes, analyzes, and builds all day usually gets more out of a ChatGPT or Claude seat. Discounts and billing

OpenAI offers nonprofits "up to a 75% discount on ChatGPT Business or ChatGPT Enterprise" through OpenAI for Nonprofits, arranged through sales. Business can be paid by any major credit card, monthly or annually. Enterprise is annual and invoiced. There's no published discount for small businesses beyond the 20% you save by paying annually instead of monthly. ChatGPT Business vs Enterprise

From OpenAI's business pricing page and help center, read September 15, 2026: Business has a price and a checkout; Enterprise has neither. Business is $20 per user per month billed annually or $25 monthly for a Standard seat, $100 or $125 for a Premium seat, with a two-seat minimum, for teams of 2 to 200. Enterprise is "custom pricing," sold through sales, billed annually, with credit-based or token-based usage pricing. OpenAI publishes no per-seat Enterprise number and no seat minimum. If you searched for the ChatGPT Team plan, it is the same product: OpenAI's help center confirms Team was renamed ChatGPT Business on August 29, 2025.

Both plans include SAML SSO, MFA, an admin console, unified billing, usage analytics, spend controls, all ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex features, and no training on your data by default. What Enterprise adds, per OpenAI's own list: SCIM, EKM (your own encryption keys), domain verification, role-based access controls, custom data retention, data residency in ten regions, a longer Instant context window, 24/7 priority support with SLAs and custom legal terms, and the contracted-only items: invoicing, purchase orders, net terms, Zero Data Retention, BAAs.

For a company under 50 people, that list is mostly things you do not have: no identity provider to provision from, no regulator asking for data residency. Buy Business, put heavy users on Premium seats (5x usage, no 5-hour limit), and revisit Enterprise when a BAA, data residency, or procurement terms show up in a contract.

What I'd buy

For a team of 3 to 20 people: Business, Standard seats for everyone, Premium only for the one or two people who hit limits in the first month, billed annually once you know the setup sticks. That's usually $20 a head with a couple of $100 exceptions. Turn on the spend controls, connect the two tools your team already lives in, and shut down the personal Plus accounts, because right now they're where your client data goes.
