Perplexity Pricing (2026): Free, Pro $17, Max $167, and $40 Enterprise Seats

The short answer

As of October 13, 2026, Perplexity Free is $0, Pro is $17 a month and Max is $167 a month when billed annually. Max month to month is $200 ($2,000 a year). For a business, Enterprise Pro is $40 a seat per month ($400 a year) and Enterprise Max is $325 a seat ($3,250 a year). Schools and nonprofits get Enterprise Pro for $30 a seat, and students get Education Pro for $10.

Every number here comes from Perplexity's own pricing page and three of its help center articles, read on October 13. Two of those articles were updated on October 8, so this is the current ladder, not last spring's.

Every Perplexity plan, monthly and annual

Plan Billed annually Billed monthly Who it's for
Free $0 $0 Occasional questions
Education Pro n/a $10 / mo (SheerID verified) Students
Pro $17 / mo Not printed today (was $20 in September) One person, daily research
Max $2,000 / yr ($167 / mo), web only $200 / mo Heavy Deep Research and Computer use
Enterprise Pro $400 / seat / yr $40 / seat / mo Teams that need admin and data controls
Enterprise Pro, education or nonprofit $300 / seat / yr $30 / seat / mo Eligible schools and nonprofits
Enterprise Max $3,250 / seat / yr $325 / seat / mo Power users inside a company
API Platform Pay as you go, credits bought separately Developers

One gap worth knowing: the pricing page now shows Pro only at the annual rate. In September the same page offered a $20 monthly option. If you want month to month, the checkout screen is where you'll see today's number.

What you actually get at each tier

Perplexity's help center has a comparison table, and it's the clearest place to see what the money buys. The limits are the story:

  • Free: practically unlimited basic searches, but 3 Pro Searches a day and 1 Research query a month. Perplexity picks the model for you, and file uploads are limited.
  • Pro ($17): weekly limits sized for "average use", your choice of model per question, Deep Research, documents and apps, 400+ app connectors and 4,000 bonus Computer credits. Perplexity's page says Pro gets 10x Free's web answers and file uploads.
  • Max ($200, or $167 annual): limits sized for "advanced use", 10,000 monthly Computer credits plus 35,000 bonus, frontier and advanced reasoning models, more video generation and priority access to new features.
  • Enterprise Pro ($40 a seat): everything in Pro, plus 400 Pro Searches a week and 50 Research queries a month per person, shared Projects, file connectors governed by an admin, seat management and the data rule below.
  • Enterprise Max ($325 a seat): 4,000 Pro Searches a week, 500 Research queries a month, up to 10,000 personal files and 15 video generations a month.

Notice that the consumer plans describe their limits in words ("average use", "advanced use") while the Enterprise plans publish numbers. If you're buying for a team, that alone is a reason to price Enterprise Pro, because it's the only paid tier where you know what a seat holds. How Perplexity's caps compare with ChatGPT's, Claude's and Gemini's is on one table in AI usage limits.

The difference a business is really paying for

On Free, Pro and Max, Perplexity's table says "Opt-out AI training available". On both Enterprise plans it says "Data never used for model training". That's the line that matters if anyone on your team will paste in client names, contracts or numbers.

So the honest comparison isn't Pro at $17 against Enterprise Pro at $40. It's whether you're willing to rely on every employee finding and flipping an opt-out setting on their own personal account. For one owner, maybe. For ten staff, I wouldn't, and that's the same reason I steer teams to business plans on ChatGPT and Claude too.

What a team pays: 5, 10 and 25 seats

Here's Enterprise Pro next to the two business plans most teams weigh it against. The Perplexity prices are today's read; the Claude and ChatGPT prices are from my own pricing pages, checked this month.

Seats Perplexity Enterprise Pro (annual) Perplexity Enterprise Pro (monthly) Claude Team Standard (annual) ChatGPT Business (annual)
5 $2,000 / yr $200 / mo ($2,400 / yr) $1,200 / yr $1,200 / yr
10 $4,000 / yr $400 / mo ($4,800 / yr) $2,400 / yr $2,400 / yr
25 $10,000 / yr $1,000 / mo ($12,000 / yr) $6,000 / yr $6,000 / yr

Perplexity's business seat costs about 1.7x a Claude Team or ChatGPT Business seat on annual billing ($400 against $240 a year). That premium makes sense when the job is research with sources: market scans, vendor checks, "find me the regulation that says this." It makes less sense as the team's only AI tool, because the other two are built for drafting, documents and working inside your files. If the team is choosing between Claude and Perplexity for that reason, my side-by-side is Claude vs Perplexity, and the Claude seat math in full is on the Claude Team plan page.

Above 250 people, Perplexity says discounts are available, so the table stops being the real price.

Billing rules that catch admins out

  • Removing a person doesn't lower the bill. It frees the seat for someone else. To pay for fewer seats, an admin lowers the seat count in Billing, and that takes effect at the next billing period.
  • Inviting a person with no free seat buys one immediately. There's a confirmation step, but the charge is real the moment you confirm.
  • The API isn't included. Enterprise seats don't come with API credits. If someone wants to build on Perplexity, that's a separate pay-as-you-go bill.
  • Max annual is web only. If you subscribe through the iPhone or Android app, you're on the monthly price.
  • You can mix tiers. One organization can hold Enterprise Pro seats for most people and a couple of Enterprise Max seats for the researchers who'd hit the 400-a-week cap.

Which plan to buy

  • Free if you ask a few questions a week. Three Pro Searches a day is enough to judge whether the answers are better than a search engine for your work.
  • Pro at $17 if you're one person who runs into that limit by Wednesday. Whether $17 is worth it next to a ChatGPT or Claude subscription you may already pay for is its own question, and I answered it in Is Perplexity Pro worth it?
  • Max at $200 only if you've hit Pro's ceiling on Deep Research in a real month. Perplexity doesn't publish Pro's weekly number, so measure it before paying 10x more.
  • Enterprise Pro at $40 a seat as soon as two or more staff use it for work with client data in it. The training rule is worth the premium on its own.
  • Enterprise Max at $325 a seat for the one or two analysts who'd break 400 Pro Searches a week, mixed in with Enterprise Pro for everyone else.

Picking the tool is the easy part; getting a team to use it the same way is where the money goes. When a company wants help choosing between Perplexity, ChatGPT and Claude and then rolling one out, that's the AI implementation work I do: setup, connections, rules for client data and training, at a published price.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is Perplexity Pro?
Perplexity's pricing page lists Pro at $17 a month when billed annually, as of October 13, 2026. The same page showed $20 month to month when I read it in September; today it prints only the annual rate, so check the monthly price at checkout. Students can get Education Pro for $10 a month after SheerID verification.
How much does Perplexity Max cost?
$200 a month, or $2,000 a year, which works out to about $167 a month. Perplexity's help center says annual billing for Max is only available on the web app, not through the iPhone or Android stores. Max adds 10,000 monthly Computer credits, 35,000 bonus credits, frontier models and the highest usage limits.
How much is Perplexity Enterprise Pro per seat?
$40 per seat per month, or $400 per seat per year, which Perplexity describes as about a 16.7% discount. Enterprise Max is $325 a seat per month or $3,250 a year. You can mix Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max seats in one organization. Eligible schools and nonprofits pay $30 a seat per month or $300 a year for Enterprise Pro.
Is Perplexity free?
Yes. The Free plan is $0 and gives practically unlimited basic searches with citations, but only 3 Pro Searches a day and 1 Research query a month, with limited file uploads and no choice of model. Pro is the first paid tier.
Does Perplexity Enterprise include API access?
No. Perplexity's enterprise billing FAQ says API usage is not included with Enterprise Pro or Enterprise Max. The API Platform is pay-as-you-go: you buy credits separately, and they are billed separately from your seats.
Why didn't my Perplexity bill go down when I removed a user?
Because removing a member frees their seat but doesn't reduce how many seats you bought. To pay for fewer seats, an admin has to lower the seat count in Billing, and the reduction starts at the next billing period. Adding a person when no seat is free buys a new seat immediately.

Is Perplexity Pro Worth It? Only If It Replaces Something You Already Pay For

Perplexity Pro is $17 a month billed annually. It's worth it if your work is research with sources and you'd drop another $20 subscription for it. It's a bad buy stacked on top of ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro, because Perplexity answers with those same model families.
