What you already get: Gemini in Google Workspace

Here's what Google's Workspace pricing page listed on September 12, 2026, per user per month with a one-year commitment. Google says the annual commitment saves 16% over month-to-month billing, and it runs introductory discounts for new customers, so your first invoice may be lower.

Two details matter more than the table. First, there's no separate Gemini charge on these plans. Second, Starter's card lists Gemini in Gmail only. Gemini inside Docs and Meet starts at Business Standard. If your team is on Starter and you're shopping for ChatGPT because "Gemini can't do much," check that first. Moving up to Standard costs $7 more per user. A ChatGPT seat costs $20.

What ChatGPT Business adds, and what it costs

ChatGPT Business is OpenAI's plan for teams. It used to be called ChatGPT Team. The seat includes ChatGPT and Codex on desktop, web, and mobile, a workspace with admin controls, SAML SSO, and MFA, and, in OpenAI's words, "no training on your business data by default."

One thing that surprises Workspace companies: you don't have to pick a side for your files. OpenAI's business pricing page lists connectors for Google Workspace, alongside Slack, GitHub, and Microsoft 365. Once an admin connects it, ChatGPT can work with the Google files your team already has. You're paying for a second tool, not a migration.

• Someone builds software. Codex is included in ChatGPT Business. For a developer or a technical founder, that one feature can justify the seat.
• Your team already uses ChatGPT, just on personal accounts. This is the most common case and the most expensive one to ignore. If three people are pasting client material into free or personal ChatGPT accounts, you already have ChatGPT at your company. You just don't control it.
