Is There a Claude Certification? What Anthropic Actually Offers in 2026, and Who Can Take It
The short answer
Yes, there is an official Claude certification. Anthropic runs the Claude Certification Program: four proctored exams delivered through Pearson VUE, priced $99 to $175. The part most guides skip is that, as of September 2026, only people at Claude Partner Network organizations can take them. You register with a partner company email, and personal addresses are rejected. Everyone else can earn free completion badges from Anthropic's academy, which prove you finished a course and are not a certification.
I read Anthropic's certification pages, its certification FAQ, and Pearson VUE's program page on September 24, 2026. Everything below comes from those pages. I am not a partner and I do not hold one of these, so this is the view from outside the gate, which is where most people searching for this are standing.
The four Claude certifications
Anthropic's partner academy calls this "the credential built exclusively for Anthropic Partners," covering three roles: Associate, Developer, and Architect.
| Certification | Who Anthropic built it for | Price (USD, before partner discount) | Counts toward partner tier? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Certified Associate - Foundations (CCAO-F) | Consultants, sellers, and delivery leads who guide customers to the right Claude use cases | $99 | No |
| Claude Certified Developer - Foundations (CCDV-F) | Engineers building with the Claude API, Claude Code, and MCP | $125 | Yes |
| Claude Certified Architect - Foundations (CCAR-F) | People designing Claude solutions end to end; tests Claude Code, the Agent SDK, the API, and MCP | $125 (was $99 before June 30, 2026) | Yes |
| Claude Certified Architect - Professional (CCAR-P) | Architects designing and governing Claude at enterprise scale | $175 | Yes |
Foundations and Professional are separate exams. There is no formal prerequisite, so you can sit Architect - Professional without Foundations, and Foundations never upgrades on its own.
Who can actually take them
This is the line that decides everything, straight from Anthropic's certification FAQ: "Certification is currently available only to organizations in the Claude Partner Network."
In practice that means:
- You register through the Anthropic Partner Academy, which Anthropic says "differs from our publicly available consumer academy and requires additional validation at login."
- You need a partner email on a recognized company domain. Personal email addresses do not work. If your firm's domain is not on its partner record, adding it takes 7 to 10 days.
- You must be 18 or older with a government-issued ID that matches your registration name exactly.
The Claude Partner Network is Anthropic's partner program, and its services directory lists firms that deliver Claude solutions for customers. Anthropic's FAQ says certification counts toward a firm's standing in the network and "signals to customers that your team has invested in a real Claude practice." If that describes your company, it can apply through claude.com/partners. If you are a manager inside a company that buys Claude, or an owner running your own business on it, you are a customer, and the exam is not open to you today.
That is why so much of what ranks for this search is odd. There are prep courses, mock exams, and study guides for an exam most of their readers cannot register for. Prep is not eligibility.
How the exam works
- Format: multiple choice and scenario-based multiple response, 120 minutes, about 135 minutes of total seat time. Closed book, no AI assistants, English only.
- Where: online with a Pearson OnVUE proctor, or at a Pearson test center.
- Passing: scaled score from 100 to 1,000; 720 passes on all four exams. Your score report breaks down how you did in each section.
- What you get: a Credly digital badge you can put on LinkedIn, plus a downloadable PDF certificate.
- How long it lasts: 12 months. On-time renewal is a free, non-proctored assessment. Let it lapse and you pay for the full exam again.
- Retakes: full fee each time. Waits of 14, 30, then 90 days, and no more than 4 attempts per exam in any rolling 12 months.
- Discounts: Registered-tier partners pay full price. Select, Preferred, and Global Premier partners get 50% off, and Global Premier partners get 100% off through December 31, 2026.
- Practice: the old practice exam was retired when delivery moved to Pearson on June 30, 2026. The exam guide for each certification includes sample questions.
What you can get instead: completion badges and certificates
This is where the confusion comes from. Plenty of Claude courses end in something with "certificate" in the name. None of them are the Claude certification.
- Anthropic's free academy. academy.claude.com offers free courses from Anthropic's education team. Claude 101, AI Fluency, Claude Cowork, and most others end in a quiz and a completion badge. The same Claude 101 on Anthropic's Skilljar site ends in a certificate of completion. I cover the AI Fluency course in detail separately.
- Coursera. Real-World AI with Claude, sponsored by Anthropic and 1Password, lists a shareable certificate and is free to enroll or included with Coursera Plus.
- LinkedIn Learning. Its Claude courses give a certificate of completion for your profile.
These are worth having. They show you did the work. They are not a proctored exam. When a list promises "13 free Claude certifications," it is counting completion badges. I ranked the courses that are worth a manager's time in the best Claude courses for managers and business owners.
Do you need a certification, or a working setup?
You need the certification if you work at a consulting, services, or reseller firm that is (or wants to be) a Claude partner, you deliver Claude projects for clients, and your firm's partner tier depends on how many certified people it has. Developer and Architect count toward that tier. Associate does not.
You need a working setup if you are a manager, department head, or owner and the goal is Claude doing real work for your team. Your customers will never ask whether the person who set up your Claude workspace holds a badge. They notice whether the proposal draft is right, whether the follow-ups went out, and whether anyone had to fix it. A credential does not answer those questions. A workflow that ran for a week does.
The pattern I see when I train teams on AI is the same one every time: companies that sent everyone through a course have certificates and unchanged calendars. Companies that built one workflow have hours back. My AI for managers guide is the longer version of that argument.
The applied option, which is explicitly not a certification
The Shop is my self-paced course for managers and owners, and I want to be precise about what it is. It is not a certification and not affiliated with Anthropic's program. There is no exam and no credential at the end. It is a completion course that sets Claude up inside the business or team you run.
It is $397 once, 8 lessons and 48 chapters, about 4 hours of reading. Every lesson ends with a saved Work Order that is a real piece of your setup: your first workflow, a Business Brain document Claude reads every time, a draft-and-approve workflow you run for a week, connectors and skills, and trust rules with a 30/60/90 plan. Each lesson has a printable worksheet. Lessons 1 to 5 work on Claude's free plan, and Lesson 6 onward uses the Claude Team plan. There is a 30-day money-back guarantee, and team seats are $97 per teammate.
If what you actually want is Claude working for your team by next month, read Lesson 1 free. It takes 13 minutes, needs no sign-in, and ends with you choosing the one workflow worth starting with.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is there an official Claude certification?
- Yes. Anthropic runs the Claude Certification Program, delivered through Pearson VUE with digital badges on Credly. As of September 2026 it has four exams: Claude Certified Associate - Foundations ($99), Developer - Foundations ($125), Architect - Foundations ($125), and Architect - Professional ($175). Anthropic describes it as a credential built exclusively for Anthropic partners.
- Can anyone take the Claude certification exam?
- No. Anthropic's certification FAQ says certification is currently available only to organizations in the Claude Partner Network. You register through the Anthropic Partner Academy with a partner email on a recognized company domain, and personal email addresses will not work. You also need to be at least 18 with a government-issued ID. If your company is not a partner, it can apply to the Claude Partner Network at claude.com/partners.
- How much does Claude certification cost?
- The list prices are $99 for Claude Certified Associate - Foundations, $125 for Developer - Foundations, $125 for Architect - Foundations, and $175 for Architect - Professional, in USD before partner discounts. Select, Preferred, and Global Premier partners get 50% off, and Global Premier partners get 100% off through December 31, 2026. A retake costs the full fee again. Architect - Foundations went from $99 to $125 on June 30, 2026.
- Is there a free Claude certification?
- Not a certification, no. What is free is Anthropic's academy at academy.claude.com, where courses like Claude 101 end in a completion badge or certificate of completion. Those show you finished a course, not that you passed a proctored exam. Lists that count them as free Claude certifications are using the word loosely. The proctored certification exams cost $99 to $175 and are limited to partner organizations.
- What is the Claude certification exam like?
- All four exams use multiple choice and scenario-based multiple response questions with a 120-minute limit, about 135 minutes of seat time. They are closed book, in English only, and taken online with a Pearson proctor or at a Pearson test center. Scores run from 100 to 1,000 and 720 passes. A pass lasts 12 months, and on-time renewal is a free, non-proctored assessment.
- Is a Claude certification worth it for a manager or business owner?
- Usually not, and usually you cannot take one anyway. The certifications are built for people at consulting and services firms who sell and deliver Claude work to clients, and the certification itself counts toward the firm's standing in Anthropic's partner program. A manager or owner gets more from a working setup: Anthropic's free Claude 101, then something that installs Claude into the workflows your team already runs.

ChatGPT Business vs Plus (2026): Which One a Small Business Should Actually Pay For
ChatGPT Plus vs Business, as of September 2026: Plus is $20 a month for one person and OpenAI may train on your chats unless you opt out; Business is $20 a seat billed annually or $25 monthly, two seats minimum, with no training by default, admin controls, shared projects for groups, and the Company Knowledge plugin. The side-by-side from OpenAI's pages, and three owner scenarios with a verdict each.
ChatGPT for Customer Service (2026): What Works, What Breaks, and What It Costs a Small Business
ChatGPT for customer service, as of September 2026: it drafts replies, answers policy questions from your own documents, and triages an inbox for $20 to $25 a seat a month on ChatGPT Business. It can't look up an order, issue a refund, or remember a customer unless you connect the system that holds them. The honest capability line, the plan you need, a setup in six steps, the failure modes, and the point where a real agent takes over.
ChatGPT Pulse (2026): What It Was, Why OpenAI Retired It, and How to Get the Morning Brief for Your Business
ChatGPT Pulse, the daily research cards OpenAI previewed for Pro users in September 2025, was sunset on June 17, 2026 with a 14-day wind-down. What it did, which plans ever had it, why scheduled tasks replaced it, and how an owner rebuilds the morning brief on a Plus or Business seat without handing ChatGPT the wrong things.
Granola Pricing (2026): Free, $14 or $35 a Seat, and the Privacy Settings Only One Plan Enforces
Granola costs $0 on Basic, $14 per user per month on Business and $35 on Enterprise. Basic is genuinely free, but it only shows 30 days of meeting history. The detail that matters for a business: on Basic and Business, the training opt-out and the notice to other people on the call are set by each user. Only Enterprise lets an admin enforce them.
